The OBJECTIVES of The EARTHWORM Project

 

The main objectives of this project are as follows:

1.  Educating teachers about the major concepts (4 pillars) of sustainability education and its importance     -  The fundamental concept of sustainability education will be discussed.  

  -  The historical background and the reason behind the concept formation    

  -   The importance of the inclusion and embedding of sustainability education in the ECEC

 

2.  Providing opportunities for exchanging of ideas, different practical activities  & practices, and projects related to sustainability education      

  -  mobility training and exchange of experiences will be carried out in this project. Teachers will keep records of their activities with children and share it with others teachers for inspiration.  

 

3.  Raising awareness of the global issues and how can these issues be tackled with the youngest learners    -  linking the knowledge of sustainability to discuss the ´wicked problems´ and the current issues that affect mankind and the resources of the earth.    

  -  allowing the participants to ponder and come up with possible solutions and ways in dealing those current issues and problems

 

4. Strengthening the attitude of activism and resiliency      

 -  being exposed and get acquainted with the concept of sustainability will help build the attitude of activism and resiliency    

 - creative approach to teaching sustainability education    

 -  collaborative practice will be encouraged
